This quiche is made with a creamy egg mixture and baked in a flaky crust. This quiche’s texture is creamy and flavorful thanks to the layers of zucchini and melted cheddar cheese.

Homemade Zucchini Quiche Recipe

QuicheThis is such an original and delicious dish! I will eat any recipe that includes more vegetables or cheese. This zucchini quiche may be my favorite. The thin slices of zucchini are topped with a creamy egg mixture and combined with melted cheese…. It’s insanely delicious. It makes a delicious breakfast or even a light dinner!

My garden explodes with fresh zucchini at this time of year and I am always on the lookout to find more. New recipesI have enough to make it all. You can make this zucchini quiche ahead of time and freeze it. You can still enjoy fresh zucchini throughout the autumn months. After you try the delicious Italian seasonings, and the flaky texture of fresh zucchini, I promise you will be hooked. pie crustThis will be something you’ll want to do over and over!

Ingredients for Zucchini Quiche

This recipe is simple and only requires a handful of ingredients. Get those zucchinis from your garden and get cooking! The recipe card is at the end of this post.

  • Pie Crust: Make your own pie crust using my recipe grandma’s recipe— it’s perfection!) Or you can purchase a ready-made crust in the shop.
  • EggsWhenever I cook or bake, I like to use large eggs.
  • Heavy Cream: This is the base of the egg mixture, and it makes the texture extra creamy.
  • Zucchini: Slice your zucchini nice and thin and don’t worry about peeling it Just go ahead and leave the skin on.
  • Mozzarella Cheese:Although I love the flavor of mozzarella cheese in this quiche, you can substitute any cheese you like (e.g. cheddar cheese or parmesan).  
  • Italian SeasoningThis recipe will make your Italian seasoning homemade. This Italian seasoning is amazing and you’ll never go back to buying it in stores.
  • Salt and Black PepperThese will enhance all the flavors of the quiche

How to make Zucchini Quiche

This quiche only takes about 15 minutes to put together and the rest of the time is hands-off while it’s cooking in the oven! It is possible to make it ahead of your time, so you can grab a slice as soon as you’re ready.

  1. Preheat: Preheat the oven to 375℉.
  2. Prepare pie crust: You can either prepare your pie dough according to the recipe or use a store-bought crust.
  3. Cook zucchini:Add olive oil to a large skillet and heat on medium-high heat. Cook the zucchini slices for about 4-6 minutes, or until tender. Let cool the mixture on the stovetop while you make the rest of your filling.
  4. Whisk: In a large bowl, whisk Mix together eggs, heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add cheese: For the final assembly of the pie, add 1 cup shredded cheese to your prepared crust. Then layer the softened zucchini over the cheese.
  6. Combine: Pour the egg mixture over the zucchini and top with the remaining ¼ cup shredded cheese.
  7. Bake:Bake for 45 minutes or until the center of the pie is set. Use foil or a pie shield to cover the edges of the crust that begin to brown. Let the quiche rest for 15 mins before cutting.

Why is it soggy?

Everyone doesn’t want their zucchini quiche to become soggy or watery. There are 2 things in this recipe that I have included to make it so that this doesn’t happen. Remove the skin from your zucchini and let it cook. These steps make it so that your zucchini is still fresh and delicious but it doesn’t water down your quiche.

Storing Leftovers

Here are some tips to store and heat zucchini quiche. You’ll be able to enjoy this flaky delight even days after you make it!

  • In the Refrigerator You have two options: wrap the entire quiche in plastic wrap or wrap each slice individually in resealable bags. You can keep your quiche in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
  • FreezerWrap the quiche in plastic wrap, and place it in an airtight jar. The quiche can be frozen up to one month before it loses its texture and flavor.
  • Reheating:To retain a delicious, flaky crust, you can use an oven to heat it. Before baking, let your quiche thaw/come at room temperature. Your quiche will bake in 350F oven for 15 minutes or until it is cooked through. To keep your crust from browning, you can place a pie cover or tin foil on top.
