Six people are killed when a bus crashes into a truck in Tamil Nadu. PM Modi offers condolences

Six people, including two women, died and several got injured on Friday morning after a government-run bus rammed into a truck at Thozhupedu near Madurantakam in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpet district.

The police said that the bus carrying over 40 people was traveling from Chennai to Chidambaram on the Chennai Trichy National Highway. Near Thozhupedu the bus ran into a stationary truck.

Five passengers, including two women died, when one side of the bus was severely damaged. An ambulance was immediately dispatched to take the passengers to the nearest hospital. One of the passengers was declared deceased, and others are still being treated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, via the PMO’s Twitter handle, expressed his condolences. PM Modi expressed sadness over the Chengalpattu accident and offered his condolences for the families that have lost loved ones in Tamil. He wished for a speedy recovery of the injured.

Achirapakam police stated that the driver of bus was currently hiding and that bodies have been sent to post-mortem. Traffic congestion was also caused by the accident.
