Rashtriya Swamisevak Sangh’s (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat presented an honourary doctorate to six distinguished personalities on Wednesday at Sri Sathya University Bengaluru. It was given by Sunil Gavaskar, ex-Indian cricketer.

Bhagwat, who delivered the convocation address for the university’s first day of classes, said that the signs of the country moving ahead were now evident everywhere.

“The signs of India growing by bringing together its knowledge base from the past with the futuristic studies are now visible everywhere. If someone had said 10-12 years ago that India will grow, then we would not have taken it seriously,” Bhagwat said during the first convocation of Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, Sathya Sai Gram at Muddenahalli in Chikkaballapura district.

However, he stated that the nation’s development did not occur immediately. It began in 1857 and was further developed by Swami Vivekananda.

Bhagwat stated that spirituality can achieve excellence, even though science still hasn’t discovered the source of creation.

Science has tried to solve all problems through its fragmentary approach but it also discovered that all things are interconnected. But, science hasn’t yet found the connecting factor, according to the RSS Sarsangh Chalak.

He claims that science is lacking in coordination and balance when it comes to studying the external world, which leads to conflicting situations everywhere.

“If your language is different then there is conflict. There is conflict if you worship in a different way. There is conflict between science and spirituality, development and the environment. This is how the world moved forward in the last 1,000 years,” Bhagwat said.

The statement stated that Bhagwat presented honorary doctorates also to K Kasturirangan (former ISRO chief), Indian Hindustani vocalist M Venkatesh Kumar, an eminent environmentalist, and C Sreenivas, for providing free healthcare to many.

Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence in Kalaburagi District, Karnataka was founded at Navanihala Village Kamalapur Taluk.
