During his first visit to the Middle East, the US president demanded an increase in oil production.

From Israel to the occupied West Bank and Saudi Arabia, Joe Biden’s first visit to the Middle East comes at a critical time for the US president, whose approval rating is at less than 40 percent in the run-up to mid-term elections.

Biden is asking for more oil from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reduce prices for Americans who are feeling the pinch at their pumps.

After the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist, relations between traditional allies fell to a new low. Biden wants to restore these ties.

Security and relations with Israel are other issues.
