Ex-UK Ministers Jeremy Hunt and Sajid Javid join Race to Succeed Boris Johnson

Ex ministers have announced that they are joining the race to succeed Boris Johnson as PM(FILE).

LONDON:

British Conservative lawmakers and ex-health ministers Jeremy Hunt, and Sajid Javid announced that they would be joining the race for Boris Johnson’s prime ministership in interviews with The Telegraph newspaper.

Hunt and Javid lost to Johnson in the 2019 leadership race. Javid said that as leaders they would reduce corporation tax to 15%. Javid said that he would also reverse the April increase in social security payments.

Hunt said to the Telegraph, “It’s very clear why I want it to do it.” “We must restore trust, grow our economy, and win next election,” Hunt said.

Javid, who was also a former minister of finance, said to the newspaper that “we cannot afford not have tax cuts.”
