Estonian parliament confirms PM Kallas as the new leader of the government

VILNIUS. The Estonian Coalition has voted in order to appoint Kaja as Prime Minister KallasThis is a move that will ensure stability in the European UnionState until March 2023 elections.
The 101-seat parliament is composed of 55 members from the three-party alliance of Kallas’ liberal Reform Party, Conservative Isamaa Party, and the centre-left Social Democratic Party.
Monday will mark the official swearing in of the new government. Each party will nominate five ministers to their cabinet. Isamaa’s Urmas reinsalu will be the Foreign Minister.
Since June 3, Kallas, who was the junior coalition partner of the Centre Party, was removed from power, Kallas has been leading a minority government. This happened after the Centre Party sided with a far right group in parliament to reject government reforms for primary education.
The coalition agreed to vote later on the switch to Estonian for primary and pre-school education in 2024.
About 25% of the European Union’s population is from this region. NatoAccording to government statistics, the ethnic Russian population in this member country is approximately 1.3 million.
