Dustin Lance Black has stated that he is healing from a “severe head injury” that he sustained around a month ago.
Black did not explain how he got his injuries in an Instagram post on Monday, but he did say it left him out of commission.
So I went missing for a long… A month ago, I suffered a significant head injury that forced me to miss work, Black wrote. “After seeing little improvement, my physicians told me to turn off my brain in the hopes that it would recover.” This has been a difficult and frightening moment for a creative person who relies on what’s in his head to work, care for, and love. And now I realise the trip back will be difficult.
Black, who won an Academy Award for best original screenplay for “Milk” in 2008 and recently adapted “Under the Banner of Heaven” for FX and Hulu, posted a sequence of vacation images with his message.
This week, my loving, over-the-top hubby took us to the Greek Islands to make me shut off,” Black wrote. “I can already see this trip is going in the right way, and I finally feel comfortable sharing a little bit again.” Thank you for your kindness and patience. There will be more. Promise.”
