Thousand Island dressing was done in Thousand Islands, Canada. There are 1,864 islands in the region, and it’s absolutely stunning! It has many legends about its origin and creator, but once it was discovered, it was put on the Waldorf Attoria New York City’s menu. Everyone has loved it ever since.

Thousand island dressing is made of mayonnaise (ketchup), a few spices and some onion. This dressing packs a lot of flavor, which is why it’s so delicious! • Relish: This adds a slight tang, but it’s too overwhelming.
  • Diced Onion The onion gives texture flavor. It’s a must!
  • Garlic PowderGarlic is delicious and goes well with other flavors.
  • SaltThis will enhance the flavor of all the other ingredients.
  • Paprika:I love sweet paprika!

Making your own thousand island dressing is the best thing about it! You can change it up every time and make it unique. You can add a few other things to this dressing to make your dressing even more perfect.

  • Tomato Paste: If you don’t have ketchup, you can use tomato paste instead. It has a deeper tomato flavor.
  • Egg:For a different twist, you can hard boil an eggs, then cut it into pieces and add it to the recipe. It adds great texture and gives it a wonderful taste.
  • Some heat is addedIf you really love the flavor of thousand island dressing, but want it to be a bit more spicy, then add some tabasco or sriracha sauce. It’s so good!
  • Relish: If you don’t have sweet pickle relish on hand then you can try some dill instead! This gives off a completely different flavor, but it is equally delicious.
