Actress Erica Hoy Killed in Car Crash in Front of Boyfriend and Twin Sister

PORT RIVER, ADELAIDE – Erica Hoy, an Australian actress, died in a multi-car collision on Tuesday, October 31 when her car was reportedly struck and forced into the path of oncoming heavy goods vehicles and automobiles.

The 26-year-old actress, her boyfriend Mike Reader, 29, and her twin sister Lisa were on their way home from an acting lesson when they were involved in a vehicle accident on the Port River Expressway in northwest Adelaide soon after 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Their red Toyota Prius was apparently struck in the back by a Holden Cruze, sending it into the path of approaching large trucks.

The out-of-control vehicle then crashed with an incoming lorry and hit another automobile, totaling five cars in the incident. The force of the collision rendered the Prius unrecognisable. The actress died at the spot, according to officials, while Reader and Lisa were critically injured and sent to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Authorities have released a photo of the lady who was reportedly driving the automobile that caused the collision on Tuesday. The suspect, identified as Carlie Eileen Richards, 38, allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by authorities. According to the Advertiser, Richards was given a bedside hearing at Adelaide’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday after being ruled mentally unable to attend in person.

According to South Australia Police, “According to witnesses, the driver of a Holden Cruze involved in the incident fled the scene and was last seen on Eastern Parade. The suspected driver was found nearby when police checked the area.

Richards has been charged with one crime of causing death by reckless driving, three counts of causing bodily harm by reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and two counts of driving without due care. The defendant will also face charges for hindering police inquiry by failing to provide personal information.

The young actress’s demise has saddened her father. Grey Hoy paid homage to her, saying he is grateful she died with her lover and twin sister. He told The Advertiser, “She was a bright, joyful, wonderful young girl.” “I’m grateful she didn’t die alone.” Her bereaved father described her as an all-rounder whose love was acting. He also mentioned that she played Alice in Wonderland in her high school musical.

Erica had just appeared in a movie web series called ‘The Reality of Humanity,’ which was exhibited at the Adelaide Film Festival, and the two sisters had migrated to Adelaide from Japan six years ago to study.
