2 rescued, many feared trapped when landslide strikes Maharashtra’s Vasai

A landslide occurred in Maharashtra’s Vasai on Wednesday. Officials have rescued two victims from the rubble, but three others are still believed to be trapped.

Locals and officials attempt to rescue the people who are trapped underneath the debris.

A landslide occurred in Maharashtra’s Vasai on Wednesday following heavy rains in the region. According to police, the debris fell upon a house in Vasai’s Wagrapada region.

Two people were rescued by rescue workers from the site. Three others are believed to still be under the debris.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), is currently at the site leading rescue operations. So far, there have not been any casualties.

MUMBAI RAINS

Vasai’s landslide is not the first to occur due to incessant rains. Three people were killed in Nagpur on Tuesday. Many others are still missing as the SUV in which they were traveling was swept away by a flood bridge.

Today, the IMD issued an orange alert in Mumbai and Thane as well as parts of Raigad, Palghar and Raigad.
